Mike Calvo, CEO
At age 18, Calvo launched his first business, a recording studio. He later mastered the computer and opened a consultancy dedicated to teaching employers and blind people how to expand occupational opportunities and career paths using computer technology. Calvo’s next venture, InHouse Radio Networks, introduced him to the world of Web-based audio entertainment. Calvo received an enthusiastic response from the blind community which brought to light the huge demand among the disabled for tools that would give them access to the Internet. After years of helping people with disabilities through their first computer experience, Calvo developed a vision of a simple, uncomplicated interface that would later launch Serotek Corporation. He vowed to keep the company’s products simple and intuitive to eliminate the fear of failure as an obstacle to accessing the Internet. Today, people around the world are using Serotek products including the visually impaired, elderly, and those with limited mobility, to operate computers and access the Internet. Mr. Calvo is married and has five children. |
